YouTube had the opportunity to activate an area at the inaugural Video Junkee 2017 festival at Carriageworks to promote YouTube Red Originals and their latest documentary Kedi. Kedi follows 9 cats on the streets of Turkey and would be screening twice over the course of Video Junkee. YouTube wanted an experience that would encourage festival attendees to take photos and share them across social media sites - the solution was a Turkish style cat café.

Inspired by the exotic colour and designs throughout Turkey, a bespoke café featuring mosaic decals on the interior walls, lattice fencing, and wooden doors was built onsite at Carriageworks . The exterior was branded with Kedi artwork and the interior back wall served as a media wall, cleverly integrating the brand into all social media snaps.
 
A total of 9 cats were brought in from Chatswood Cat Palace for festival attendees to interact with, they were rotated in shifts for their wellbeing and safety so that at any one time there were 3 cats in the café supervised by staff from the Cat Palace. Complimentary traditional Turkish coffee and tea was served from a mosaic bar as well as freshly made delicious baklava and Turkish delight.
 
Brand ambassadors welcomed guests into the space and encouraged them to cosy up to the cats, take lots of photos and enjoy the complimentary treats, whilst the Kedi trailer played on a screen in one corner and traditional Turkish music could be heard throughout the café.

Fourth Wall created a unique and engaging space where adults and children alike were delighted to be able to pat and hold a cat in a relaxed and beautifully themed setting. Video Junkee received fantastic feedback from festival patrons who loved the cat café and the Kedi film sessions were the most popular over the whole festival.
