NEIGHBOURS MARDI GRAS FLOAT
CHALLENGING THE STATUS QUO
Over the years Neighbours has tackled some of Australia’s biggest issues around diversity, through their storylines. This year, as part of Sydney’s most iconic festival of inclusion, Fourth Wall were thrilled to partner with the Fremantle team to recreate a recent same sex marriage from the much-loved TV show, and a fabulous Ramsay Street celebration to boot.
EVOLVING THE CREATION
We loved being part of so many firsts: the first time Neighbours participated in the parade; seeing the crowds respond so positively to the first legal same-sex wedding on an Australian drama as characters Aaron (played by Matt Wilson) and David (Takaya Honda) tied the knot and; having King Karl (Alan Fletcher) and Queen Susan (Jackie Woodburne) - who have been with the show since 1994 - making their float debut.
The iconic Neighbours theme tune underwent a banging club remix for Mardi Gras, which was played through the sound system on the float as it moved through the parade.
