Google.org Impact Challenge
The Challenge
Google.org supports and invests in innovators who have bold ideas that will create a significant and lasting impact. They believe that by investing in the growth of SMEs, these businesses will create more jobs and therefore strengthen the economy.
Google Impact Challenge created an international program to reward successful charities and came to Fourth Wall to bring that to life for the Australasian judging and prize-awarding day. Delivered at Google’s offices this program involves outstanding national judges and the Google international team. Minister for Industry, Science & Technology, Hon Karen Andrews MP, presented the People’s Choice award and spoke about the importance of innovation in Australia
The Creation
The strategy was to elevate the experience above an office event, whilst not over-delivering for a charity event. Furthermore, the finalists had to feel supported at every stage of the process to ensure their pitch to the judges was well received. Fourth Wall managed the logistics for the Judges & Participants, supporting their travel and accommodation needs.
To place focus on the event, Fourth Wall created five custom-made plinths, reflecting the finalist trophies, showcasing each of the finalists and their stories. These were placed in a public area at Google Headquarters in Sydney, two weeks prior to the event, to coincide with the opening of the People's Choice voting.
The need to reflect the important nature of the event with a relaxed, intimate feeling was a delicate balance to get right. The space was transformed with arena seating style, a custom judging panel desk and backdrop displaying the Google.org Impact Challenge branding.
Finalists were rehearsed and carefully managed to ensure their presentation, which had been curated to adhere to the nature of the program, was polished with optimum cut through to maximise their impact.
Guests enjoyed locally sourced brunch items whilst the judges were considering their decisions.
Post the winner announcements the Media used the set piece and the custom made plinths for the backdrop for their interviews to camera.
The Outcome
The program ran successfully, with a high level of engagement in lead up, right through to the event. Finalists walked away with considerable funding to support their technology driven, life-changing initiatives. Fourth Wall congratulates all the finalist of this amazing program.
