VIVID at The Star
The Challenge
Fourth Wall was engaged by Echo Entertainment Group to promote the Pyrmont and The Star Precinct, including The Star complex, throughout the internationally renowned Vivid Sydney festival.
The Star itself was to be a beacon of the new precinct and involve the community; effectively connecting The Star with Pyrmont and Sydney.
The precinct was to become an interactive Game Zone, through the integration of sound or music, and lights or projection.
The Creation
Working in partnership with The Star, our team created the Vivid Sydney Game Zone at Pyrmont and The Star.
Pyrmont’s Harbourside precinct was transformed into a buzzing multi-sensory, entertainment zone, where thousands of people from all over the world were handed the controls.
Friends and fellow fun-lovers interacted in an urban playground of retro games and activities, on a scale that’s never been seen before.
Mission Control was the largest audience-operated light show in the world, and enabled visitors to take control of the 50+ searchlights located on top of The Star building, ensure The Star was front and centre.
Pyrmont Pyro was a new activation where 50 drums, in groups of 5, were played by visitors and each time they’d trigger digital fireworks in the tree in front of them.
Vivid Treats was the ultimate playground for visitors with a sweet tooth, enabling guests to delight their senses with delicious temptations such as velvety rich hot chocolate, delectable popcorn, tantalising fairy floss, mouth-watering hot chocolate, sumptuous crepes, and crave-worthy coffee.
Vivid Sky Lounge was transformed into a vibrant urban space of light, music, interactive video games, and delicious food from The Star’s signature restaurants. Everything in the lounge was custom-created, ensuring the terrace fast became a true highlight within the precinct.
The Outcome
Over 18 dazzling nights, visitors from all over the globe flocked to the Vivid Festival, bringing the Vivid Sydney Game Zone to life.
Thousands of videos were shared online, showcasing individual light shows and thus transforming Sydney Harbour and its surrounds into the pinnacle for technologically-advanced light festivals.
The activation proved so effective that part of it has been permanently installed on the roof of The Star.
